Junior Plastic Surgery Fellow

Location and Contract Location: Wellington Regional Hospital, Kenepuru Hospital, Hutt Valley Hospital (Service: Plastic Surgery & Burns). Contract: 12 months Fixed Term. Salary: As per relevant RMO MECA. About the Role The Wellington Regional Plastic Maxillo‑Facial and Burn Unit is seeking a junior/developmental plastic surgery fellow to join our service for one year, starting early 2027. You will work alongside a medical team comprising around 12 plastic surgery consultants and 12 junior doctors of varying grades. Responsibilities You will be rostered to a mix of acute and elective operating under both general and local anaesthetic, review patients in the emergency and outpatient departments, and participate in some clinics. Depending on your level of competency, you will participate in either the senior or junior registrar after‑hours roster. The unit is a tertiary service based in Lower Hutt, Wellington, and provides regional services to Capital and Coast, Wairarapa, Mid Central, Hawke's Bay, Nelson/Marlborough and Whanganui areas, servicing a population of over 1 million people. Fellow roles will be expected to attend clinics in other district hospitals alongside colleagues. Qualifications You must be able to work legally in New Zealand and have either a permanent New Zealand address or a work visa or permit. You must also be eligible for IMG registration pathways through the Medical Council of New Zealand. This role would suit an overseas candidate who has commenced but not yet completed plastic surgery training, including registrars from less developed countries seeking development opportunities in a New Zealand unit.
