Environmental Laboratory Supervisor

About the role We're looking for an Environmental Laboratory Supervisor to join our team in our Christchurch‑based Civil Engineering laboratory. In this role, you'll lead day‑to‑day environmental laboratory operations, support quality testing and reporting, and help ensure our environmental and infrastructure work is backed by accurate, reliable data. Key responsibilities Lead and coordinate environmental‑testing technicians so work is delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards. Plan and allocate day‑to‑day environmental‑testing workloads. Act as the main point of contact for environmental‑testing requests, ensuring agreed delivery times for test results are met and clients are kept informed. Ensure test methods, ISO17025, IANZ and Laboratory Quality Manual requirements are consistently followed and supported through audits and proficiency testing. Oversee equipment calibration and maintenance. Qualifications Proven experience in an environmental setting (water sampling, soil contamination, stack emissions, personal monitoring or air quality). Experience leading or supervising people, with a collaborative and down‑to‑earth style. Current member of a relevant industry group. Strong knowledge of laboratory quality systems, testing procedures, and compliance requirements. Great organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise work and keep things moving.
