Head Teacher (Kaiako) - Preschool

We have an opportunity for an inspiring leader to join our team. We are looking for that special person who leads from the heart, recognises, celebrates, and encourages the strengths of others, and looks to support the professional growth and development of kaiako. Our primary caregiving approach builds strong, trusting relationships with tamariki and whānau, creating a real sense of wellbeing and belonging. We aim to create an inspiring space for tamariki that sparks a sense of wonder, imagination and fun, and one which provokes curiosity and exploration. Responsibilities Leading the planning, implementation and evaluation of learning experiences in a safe, nurturing environment Building authentic partnerships with whānau, including welcoming new families and sharing children’s learning through stories and open communication Demonstrating commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, tikanga and te reo Māori Fostering a positive team culture with all kaiako and kaimahi, developing a strong sense of purpose, unity, and commitment within the team Supporting ongoing learning, development and reflective practice across the team, including honest and sometimes courageous conversations Ensuring policies and legislative requirements are consistently met We are looking for a warm, values-led head teacher who brings energy, creativity and genuine care to their leadership. You’ll be a fully Registered Early Childhood Teacher with a Diploma of Teaching (ECE) or Bachelor of Teaching and Learning (Early Childhood), ready to lead a team and support high-quality learning for tamariki. Ideally, you will also bring: A current First Aid Certificate Strong knowledge of Te Whāriki Experience in curriculum planning and centre operations The ability to build trusting relationships with diverse communities Proven leadership, organisation and communication skills Sound understanding of child development Self‑awareness, resilience and a commitment to ongoing growth #J-18808-Ljbffr
