Specialty Nurse - SCBU, North Shore Hospital Specialty Nurse Special Care Baby Unit Permanent, part time role based at North Shore Hospital (0.9 FTE 72 hours per fortnight) Opportunity to work collaboratively with our neonatal team to plan care, problem solve and help make a difference to women and babies from the Waitematā District Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders. About the Role We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Specialty Nurse to join our team. The main function of this role is to provide extended nursing practice functions of neonatal resuscitation and advanced airway management in birthing, obstetric theatre areas, maternity and SCBU, or any site of a neonatal emergency. You will also undertake assessment of babies with complex needs, recommend and initiate treatment options in accordance with policy or clinical pathways, and in discussion with paediatricians. This is a senior nursing role, so you will provide clinical leadership and role model best practice, as well as take responsibility for the coordination of the unit. About Us The Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) at North Shore Hospital is a 12 bed level 2 neonatal unit, providing care for babies born as early as 32 weeks. Our SCBU team is dedicated to providing a nurturing and supportive learning environment. About you To be eligible for this role, you will have the following qualifications and experience: Registered Nurse with a current New Zealand Annual Practicing Certificate Post Graduate Certificate or Diploma in appropriate specialty practice papers (preferably neonatal nursing) Current NLS Certification Recent Level 4 (PDRP) Neonatal experience is preferred Working at Health New Zealand Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
