Job Description
Why this role? This is an opportunity to contribute to the effective operation of local democracy by supporting elected members, governance processes and statutory responsibilities under the Local Governance Act 2002 and the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987. This role plays a key part in ensuring Council meetings, committee meetings, hearings and electoral processes are delivered efficiently and professionally. What's in it for you? What we are looking for We seek an individual with strong interpersonal skills, especially the ability to provide information to Council, management and the public. The role requires strong technical skills, including experience providing technical support in Council chambers and preparing agendas and taking minutes. Ideally you will have at least four years of local government, policy or administration experience in a large organisation, sound knowledge of Local Government and procedures, and the ability to interpret legislation. A relevant tertiary qualification is desirable. Your ability to manage a diverse workload, demonstrate discretion and confidentiality, problem‑solving skills, initiative and good judgement are key to this role. The pace is fast‑paced.
