Duty Manager – Sherwood Queenstown Boutique Alpine Hotel Full‑time, on site position in Queenstown, NewZealand. Minimum guaranteed 30 hours per week. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Duty Manager will coordinate and oversee the day‑to‑day running of the Front Office Department, serve as the face of the hotel during shifts, and manage guest relations, staff, and operational standards. Role Overview Sherwood Queenstown is a sustainability‑led boutique hotel overlooking Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables. The role involves ensuring exceptional service, maintaining operational efficiency, and upholding the hotel’s reputation for wellness, creativity, and community. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily Front Office operations, ensuring all departments are adequately staffed and service standards are consistently upheld. Be aware of VIP and group arrivals and departures, ensuring all preparations are made and guests feel a genuine sense of welcome. Manage the hotel complaint system, resolving guest requests and issues professionally and in a timely manner. Maximise average room rate and occupancy through effective yield management and liaison with key departmental personnel. Maintain the hotel’s duty log, ensuring all relevant shift information is accurately recorded for reference. Lead the hotel through crisis management action plans when required, ensuring the safety, security and condition of guests, staff and the property at all times. What You’ll Bring A current Duty Manager’s Certificate. Previous experience in Front Office is essential. Opera Cloud experience is advantageous. Strong leadership skills with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure. Excellent communication skills and a genuine, welcoming service style.
