\n Opportunity Overview\n

Influence the performance and accountability of some of New Zealand's most important Crown entities. As Manager, Crown Entity Monitoring, you will lead the Ministry's monitoring function, providing strategic oversight, trusted advice, and relationship leadership across a portfolio of Crown entities and agencies. Reporting to the General Manager, Strategy & Investments, you will work closely with Ministers, Boards, Chief Executives, and senior public sector leaders to ensure strong governance, performance, and outcomes across the justice sector.

Responsibilities\n

  • Lead the Ministry's risk‑based Crown entity monitoring and relationship management.
  • \n
  • Provide strategic advice to Ministers, the Ministry's Chief Executive and Senior Leadership, and entity boards and executive teams.
  • \n
  • Oversee assurance of Crown entity accountability and reporting requirements.
  • \n
  • Identify and manage emerging risks, issues and opportunities.
  • \n
  • Strengthen governance, performance and sector outcomes.
  • \n
  • Build trusted relationships across government and the justice sector.
  • \n
Qualifications & Experience\n
    \n
  • Extensive public sector governance experience.
  • \n
  • Experience leading complex monitoring, assurance or oversight functions.
  • \n
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and navigate political environments.
  • \n
  • Appreciation for Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application in advice and leadership.
  • \n
  • Ability to build high‑performing teams and a strong organisational culture.
  • \n
  • Strong knowledge of Crown entity accountability frameworks, performance monitoring and the provision of high‑quality strategic advice in a complex public sector environment.

Salary\n

The remuneration band for this role is $149,972 to $193,782, with the appointing salary determined by skills and experience.
