We are seeking an experienced and passionate Population Health Pharmacist to join our Pharmacy team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work alongside primary care providers, community Maori and Pacific health providers to improve equitable access to medicines and optimise health outcomes for underserved communities across Otago and Southland.

You will play a key role in supporting quality use of medicines, reducing health inequities, and driving positive change through collaboration, clinical leadership, and innovative population health initiatives.

Position Purpose:

The Clinical Pharmacist - Population Health will work alongside the Pharmacy team to improve equitable access to medicines and health outcomes for underserved communities across the Southern region. This role works collaboratively with Maori and Pacific Health Providers, General Practices, Community Pharmacy, and secondary care services to identify and address disparities in medicine utilisation and prescribing practices.

The role includes delivering complex medication reviews, supporting quality use of medicines initiatives, contributing to clinical leadership, and using data and evidence-based approaches to improve prescribing and long-term health outcomes for Maori, Pacific Peoples, and other priority populations.

What are we looking for:

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Pharmacist who is passionate about health equity and improving outcomes for underserved communities. You will be confident working across diverse health settings, building strong relationships with healthcare providers, whanau, and communities, and using your clinical expertise to influence positive change.

You will have a strong understanding of population health, medicines optimisation, and quality improvement, along with a commitment to culturally safe practice and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Experience working collaboratively across primary and secondary care, and with Maori and Pacific communities, will be highly valued.

About you - To be successful in this role you will:

• Hold a Bachelor of Pharmacy (or equivalent) and a postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy qualification.

• Be registered with the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand and hold a current Annual Practising Certificate with no restrictions.

• Have at least 5 years' post-registration pharmacy experience.

• Demonstrate a strong understanding of medicines optimisation, prescribing quality, and population health approaches.

• Have an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, health equity, and culturally safe practice.

• Possess excellent relationship-building, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

• Be able to analyse data, identify trends, and develop practical solutions to improve health outcomes.

• Have strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.

• Be self-motivated, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement and professional development.

• Hold a current New Zealand driver's licence.
