About the Role The Central Otago Maternity Unit in Alexandra is seeking a Registered Midwife to join their team on a part-time (18 hours per week) fixed-term basis covering parental leave until October 2027. This dynamic role involves supporting Lead Maternity Carers and caseloading midwives in a rural maternity unit, assisting with antenatal assessments, labour and birth care, and post-natal support for women and their whānau. You will use your valuable midwifery experience to provide exceptional care, support and guidance to new mothers and babies. About the Team/Service/Location We are a small but dedicated team of kind, compassionate midwives and health professionals, caring for about 70 births per year and providing post-natal inpatient care to over 200 families. About You We are looking for experienced midwives who have an exceptional commitment to quality care and enjoy a variety of tasks to ensure the best possible care at all times. What you will bring Registration as a Midwife with the NZMC and current Annual Practicing Certificate. Strong clinical and interpersonal skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. A commitment to providing high-quality, whānau-centered care. Adaptability and resilience to work in a dynamic healthcare environment. Salary range This role falls under the terms and conditions of the MERAS Midwives Collective Agreement (1 June 2025 – 31 October 2027), Registered (Core) Midwives Salary Scale, between Step 2 and Step 7, $85,559 – $111,821 per annum, pro-rata.
