About the Role As a Patient Support Security Worker, you will undertake a variety of security duties within the Nelson Hospital Campus and work with staff to best meet the needs of patients and their whānau accessing our services. You will also assist our teams to continue to provide a welcoming and safe environment. This is a permanent full‑time role working 80 hours per fortnight (1.0 FTE). In this role, you will work rostered and rotating shifts, Monday to Sunday. There is no on‑call required for this role. About the Team / Service / Location Our team of 15 helps and assists to provide an environment that is calm and welcoming for all. About you You will display a rational and calm manner and have the skills to effectively de‑escalate difficult situations, whilst promoting a safe and therapeutic environment for all. You will be able to relate well to patients and their visitors, and communicate and liaise with the clinical teams and workforce, following directions. You will use your initiative and proactively seek out opportunities when support might be required. Previous experience in security, or a related industry is preferred, but full training will be provided. Empathy and a non‑judgemental attitude towards patients and members of the public. Ability to relate with ease to people from a variety of cultures and backgrounds. Ability to communicate and recognise concerns or issues that may affect patient welfare. Good level of physical fitness and mobility. Eligibility to work in NewZealand or hold a valid NZ work visa at the time of applying.
