FMCG Futures Summer Internship Programme 2026/2027 Ever wondered who's behind the snacks, drinks and everyday products you actually use? That could be you. FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) are the everyday products that fill your fridge, kitchen cupboards and bathroom cabinets. They're in every home and every store across New Zealand, from food and drinks to toiletries, cleaning products, personal care, medicine and so much more. This is your chance to launch your career working on iconic, much loved brands, gain real experience, and get paid to do it. The details Paid: This is a paid internship. Because you'll be placed with one of our partner organisations, your rate will be set by them and confirmed before you start. Duration: 12 weeks, running from mid November (after exams) to early February Location: Roles available in Auckland and Balclutha Who can apply: 2nd year students and above, any study background with the right to work in New Zealand. Commitment: full-time over the 12 weeks with flexibility around exams What's included Real world experience: You'll work on genuine projects, meet different people, and see how the business really runs. Structured training programme: A suite of specially designed development sessions led by an industry expert to fast-track your understanding of FMCG and kick start your career. A variety of roles: We have roles for students of all study backgrounds and year levels. FMCG really does have something for everyone. A cohort and community: You'll be part of a group of interns across a range of employers, so you'll build your network and make connections while you learn. Room to grow: Many of our interns go on to part‑time work, holiday roles or graduate positions with our partner organisations. Work that matters: FMCG sits right at the heart of big issues like sustainability, food supply and responsible production, so your ideas can make a real impact. The training programme All interns come together for four training sessions. It's a great chance to connect, network and get stuck into the world of FMCG. Workshop One: Introduction to all things FMCG, and how to get the most out of your internship Workshop Two: Understanding FMCG from a retailer perspective (store visit) Workshop Three: Understanding FMCG from a supplier perspective (site visit) Workshop Four: What's next? How to launch your FMCG Future The application process Stage 1: Application. All about you, your skills and the kind of internship experience you're looking for. We'll also ask you to provide your CV and unofficial transcript. Stage 2: Cognitive Assessment. All eligible candidates will be progressed to a short, gamified assessment that looks at your numerical (working with numbers and data), abstract (spotting patterns and problem solving) and verbal (understanding written information) skills. It's a fun way for us to see how you think. Stage 3: Video Interview. Your opportunity to tell us more about your experiences. Following your video interview, we'll review everything you've shared against the exciting range of positions we have available to find you a great match, sharing your details with the relevant hiring manager/s. Stage 4: Interview. If successful, you'll be invited to an interview with the hiring manager at the organisation you've been matched with. This could be virtual or in person, depending on the organisation and where you're based. Stage 5: Offer. Get ready to start your FMCG Future this summer!
