Specialty Clinical Nurse - Patient at Risk (PAR) Service Employment status: Permanent, part time (20 hours per week) Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora - Whanganui About the Role We are seeking an experienced and motivated Specialty Clinical Nurse to join our Patient at Risk (PAR) Service. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior nurse to provide advanced clinical expertise, support practice development, and contribute to improved patient outcomes across Whanganui Hospital. Working closely with nursing and multidisciplinary teams, you will support the recognition and management of deteriorating patients, provide clinical leadership, facilitate education, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives. To be Successful in this Role Advanced clinical knowledge and experience in acute adult inpatient care Strong leadership, coaching, and relationship‑building skills A commitment to evidence‑based practice and continuous improvement Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and organisational skills The ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams A passion for delivering excellent patient care and supporting staff development A commitment to TeTiritioWaitangi and achieving equitable health outcomes About the Team / Service / Location The Patient at Risk (PAR) Service supports the early recognition and management of deteriorating patients across Whanganui Hospital. The service works in partnership with clinical teams to promote safe, effective, and evidence‑based care while supporting staff capability and confidence in managing complex clinical situations. About You Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate At least five years’ experience in an acute adult inpatient setting, including medical and surgical nursing Expert PDRP status or be working towards this CORE Advanced Resuscitation certification ALERT course completion Advanced assessment skills, including ECG and blood gas interpretation A postgraduate qualification, or be working towards one, in a relevant clinical field A commitment to ongoing professional development and clinical excellence Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is committed to providing excellent healthcare for all New Zealanders.
