We’re on the lookout for an experienced, confident, practical and friendly HR Business Partner to join our team based on Christchurch. What You’ll Do Provide boots-on-the-ground HR support to grow great workplaces and a successful commercial business Be the trusted advisor for all things HR and ER, offering coaching and leadership on recruitment, remuneration, performance management, change processes, employment relations and HR-related business cases and policies Partner with a variety of PGW frontline and senior leaders and team members – including those from our Livestock & Real Estate business units Partnering with our nationwide Livestock and Real Estate businesses, you will engage and support a variety of PGW frontline team members from Sales Reps to Saleyard Operators and support functions to National Managers Collaborate across our 30-strong People & Safety team spread across NZ, peer‑reviewing and sharing ideas About You You’re a strong, experienced generalist HR practitioner who is confident to independently manage performance management and employment relations situations, influence others and find practical, legal, and commercial solutions with professionalism and care You enjoy connecting with frontline managers and their teams You thrive in a hands‑on environment, juggling priorities and challenges with initiative, composure, and a sense of humour What You’ll Bring 3- 5 years in a generalist HR or ER advisory role Strong knowledge of NZ employment law and independent management of performance management, investigation, and disciplinary processes – you know what to do when someone raises a complaint or isn’t quite making the grade, and you’re not afraid to engage with lawyers or advocates Excellent relationship‑building and communication skills with all types of people Confidence to provide advice and deliver presentations to small groups of people who have opinions and questions Solid written communication, with experience preparing basic business cases to go to a GM and the CEO Experience and comfort to independently interpret and apply policies and delegated levels of authority to a variety of situations Hands on experience with HR systems (we use MYOB Pay Global, SnapHire recruitment & Saba/Cornerstone learning but these are easy to pick up) The ability to work independently and with initiative, and to know when to reach out when support is required The capacity to travel across NZ A tertiary qualification in HR or equivalent experience An affinity with the New Zealand rural sector A positive, can‑do attitude and a genuine passion for creating great workplaces Step into a role that’s hands‑on and full of variety – where no two seasons are the same.
