General Medicine Physician – Dunedin Hospital Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora invites applications for a General Medicine Physician to join Dunedin Hospital, a permanent role with both full‑time and part‑time opportunities. About the role Provide primary medical care to a population of approximately 350,000 across the lower South Island. Work with a team of twelve full‑time equivalents, sharing after‑hour roster duties for weeknights, weekends, and occasionally as a second on‑call. Responsibilities Manage patient care, including history taking, examination and ongoing treatment. Lead ward rounds and coordinate multidisciplinary care plans. Perform required clinical procedures. Participate in audit and quality improvement activities. Teach and mentor medical and nursing students. Engage in continuing professional development and research within a combined clinical‑academic environment. Qualifications Broad background in Internal Medicine, with experience managing a wide spectrum of patients and illnesses. Focus on patient‑centred care as a core professional value. Fellowship with the RACP or an overseas equivalent. Eligibility for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Overseas physicians welcome; start date negotiated with consideration of NZ registration and immigration requirements. Benefits Salary within the ASMS Collective Agreement (Step 1: NZD185,380 – Step 15: NZD267,980 per annum, including on‑call and availability allowances). Continued medical education funding.
