Simulation Technician

About the Role As a Simulation Technician, you will work under the guidance of the Simulation Lead for Health NZ Te Whatu Ora Waitaha Canterbury to support the setup, operation, and maintenance of simulation-based education and clinical skills training programmes. These take place both in the Centre and across the Waitaha Canterbury health system through our in-situ simulation programme. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth delivery of high‑quality education experiences using advanced simulation and audiovisual technology. This includes setting up simulation environments, managing technical and IT requirements, supporting educators and learners, and maintaining our high‑end manikins and AV systems. Key Responsibilities Simulation & IT Support Operate and maintain complex simulation equipment and manikins Setup, configure, calibrate, and troubleshoot AV and IT systems Capture and manage simulation recordings using B-Line software Update simulation software and maintain IT systems in collaboration with Ara and Te Whatu Ora Maintain an equipment and IT asset database, including repairs and calibration schedules Use e‑room booking and iProcurement systems Update the Manawa website with course and resource information Ensure all clinical supplies and consumables are prepared and available Order and manage stock, including tracking and rotation Maintain a clean, safe, and professional training environment Provide technical support and guidance to educators, including those new to simulation Attend and contribute to simulation team meetings liaise with external agencies for equipment loans or demos Act as a floor warden in emergencies Work closely with Ara and Te Whatu Ora staff to support programme delivery Provide input on the development and improvement of simulation scenarios and equipment Participate in ongoing quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives About You A tertiary qualification in health, IT, or a related field 1–2 years experience in healthcare, technical support, or educational services Strong IT skills with the ability to learn new software and systems independently Confident operating and troubleshooting AV and simulation technologies Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Current NZ driver’s licence Flexible and reliable, able to support early morning, evening or weekend sessions as needed Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team Experience with audiovisual and recording systems Background in simulation training or education delivery Familiarity with clinical products and healthcare simulation environments Why Join Us?
