Overview Auckland City Mission Housing Limited is a non-profit - Social Services organisation. This casual role is based in Central Auckland and is for a Community and Social Service Specialist. Casual Application Closes 19 Aug 2026 Auckland - Central Auckland Community and Social Service Specialist What you will be doing Manage challenging behaviours when they arise within the housing community using a trauma-informed approach and de-escalation techniques. Practice whanaungatanga to foster positive relationships with tenants and their visitors, utilizing active listening, empathy, and culturally sensitive communication skills. Manage access for tenants and their visitors. Work alongside Auckland City Mission teams to ensure the safety and security of tenants and their visitors. Apply an understanding of historical trauma and its impact on Māori communities when interacting with tenants and visitors. What we are looking for Prior experience in security, housing support, or a related field is desirable. Capacity to demonstrate through actions commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the Mission’s values of Manaakitanga, Atawhai, Rangapū and Mana Tika, Mana Ōrite. Experience working within a trauma-informed framework and applying de-escalation techniques. Experience in access and using Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams, visitor and building access management systems. We recognise that skills, experience and knowledge can be gained in many ways. This may include paid or voluntary work, experience through your church, marae, iwi or whānau responsibilities, or other community roles.
