FAMILY HARM SOCIAL WORKER – LOCATED WITHIN THE ISR TEAM Secondment opportunity until 30 June 2027 Based at our Papanui Site in the ISR Team (the role works across all sites including Rangiora) We’re offering a competitive salary ranging from $81,206.00 to $97,557.00, depending on experience. Mō te tūnga | About the role and Our Rohe – Social worker (Family Harm) In Christchurch we are working with tamariki and whānau to make positive change in our community. We need people who have knowledge, experience and who are deeply passionate about whānau wellbeing. Working for Oranga Tamariki you will be on the frontline of child protection work. The work is demanding but hugely rewarding. We have a strong partnership with the ISR team across the Canterbury networks where Reports of Family Harm have occurred and been reported to the Police. In the role you must be able to travel between all sites in Christchurch (including Rangiora). The purpose of the role is to support front line social workers who hold high risk family harm cases either in the assessment phase or within other areas of our mahi. You must bring a good knowledge and understanding of how family harm impacts on all the whanau, have strong local relationships with the providers who work this space. Co‑working cases with front line social workers, Case consultations where family harm has occurred and has been identified as high risk in the FSS system. Home visits to whanau with the social worker. Whanau hui, as appropriate with, the key social worker. Professionals' hui with a care and protection lens to support discussion and decision‑making regarding pathways for tamariki and whānau. Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring A Social Work Qualification with Full Registration and current Annual Practising Certificate with the New Zealand Social Worker Registration Board A passion for working with children and youth, connecting, understanding and building relationships to help provide positive outcomes for our them. A strong and genuine commitment to strength‑based practice. A preference and understanding of Te Ao Māori and indigenous models of practice. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated resilience, problem solving techniques and flexibility. An understanding and awareness of the Oranga Tamariki Act, 1989. Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples’ culture. An understanding of social work practice in child protection and an understanding of New Zealand Legislation that relates to the safety of children and young people. A full, clean, current driver’s licence. An ability to work as a team member with resilience in what can be highly stressful situations.
