You'll work across diverse datasets to build a clearer picture of system performance, emerging risks, and opportunities for improvement, helping decision-makers act with confidence. The role offers variety and influence, combining analytical depth with real‑world application in a fast‑evolving environment where your work directly contributes to protecting public health and strengthening the food system. You will: Analyse data to identify risks, trends, patterns Deliver insights to support risk decisions Build dashboards, tools, automated reporting Translate data into clear visuals and stories Improve systems, processes, performance Strengthen data quality and analytical methods About You - Mōu You’re someone who enjoys making sense of complexity and bringing clarity through data. You’re naturally curious, asking questions, exploring patterns, and connecting insights to real-world outcomes. You will have: Experience building dashboards using BI tools (Power BI) Strong SQL and data analysis capability Skilled in presenting complex insights simply Comfortable managing stakeholders and priorities Likely working in government or regulated sectors About the Team You’ll join a collaborative, motivated team within Food Risk Management, working across MPI and with external partners. The team focuses on identifying emerging risks, strengthening system resilience, and supporting effective food safety responses. We work closely together, share ideas, and use data to drive meaningful improvements for New Zealand.
