The Water Services Authority - Taumata Arowai (the Authority) was established as a Crown Entity in 2021, following the outbreak of illness in the Havelock North community as a result of drinking contaminated water from the public water supply. The Authority oversees and regulates the safety and quality of drinking water, wastewater and stormwater services across New Zealand. We do this on behalf of consumers and communities throughout New Zealand, so they can have confidence in the safety and quality of their drinking water and the impact on their environment. Job Description Our Water Services South team is a critical operational function responsible for engaging with drinking water suppliers in the South Island. There are two full-time vacancies, one is 6-month fixed term and one is permanent. These roles are based in Christchurch or Dunedin. As a Senior Water Services Officer (South) you will Manage cases and responses to notifications and provide quality assurance to managers Coach and mentor other Water Services staff and contribute to the development of the team culture as a senior member of the team Support the Water Services Manager by leading council supplier engagements Lead the team's implementation of the Compliance, Monitoring, and Enforcement Strategy We are looking for someone who Has the ability to use good judgement, problem solve and think critically, taking ownership of and solving complex issues in a collaborative manner Has proven skills undertaking frontline regulatory work at all levels of complexity in a proportionate and consistent manner Has 4 – 6 years working in a similar role or relevant environment Can apply risk management principles in a regulatory environment Is a positive team player, leads by example, and is prepared to provide leadership support to the Water Services Manager Can travel from time to time throughout the South Island and participate in our on-call roster You must have a legal right to work in New Zealand. #J-18808-Ljbffr
