Job Description

This is not your typical passive fire role. Our client is seeking an experienced Passive Fire Specialist to lead the creation of a new division within an established construction business. Combining technical delivery, business development, estimating and team leadership, you'll have the autonomy to grow the service offering, build a team, and play a key role in the company's long‑term expansion plans. Key Responsibilities Delivering passive fire installation, inspection, servicing, and remediation work Ensuring all works meet manufacturer specifications and compliance requirements Preparing estimates, quotes, and pricing for projects and maintenance work Managing job costs, margins, and overall divisional profitability Building relationships and securing new clients and contracts Identifying opportunities to grow recurring inspection and maintenance revenue Recruiting, mentoring, and leading a growing passive fire team Maintaining compliance with NZ Building Code requirements, compliance schedules, and BWoF obligations Managing documentation, inspection records, and quality assurance processes Reporting on divisional performance, pipeline, compliance, and growth initiatives Supporting a strong health and safety culture across all operations Required Qualifications New Zealand Certificate in Fire Protection (Passive Fire Protection) Level 4 or equivalent Significant experience in passive fire installation, servicing, and inspection Proven estimating and quoting experience within the industry Strong understanding of the Building Act 2004 and New Zealand Building Code fire safety requirements Knowledge of compliance schedules, specified systems, BWoF requirements, and the IQP framework Commercial awareness and the ability to identify, price, and deliver profitable work Experience leading, mentoring, or supervising staffStrong communication and relationship management skills High attention to detail with a commitment to quality and compliance Current Site Safe card Full New Zealand driver's licence Eligibility to work in New Zealand Desirable Experience IQP registration or the ability to work towards registration Existing industry relationships across the lower and central North Island Previous experience growing a service line or business unit Benefits Competitive remuneration package Opportunity to build and lead a specialist division from the ground up Strong autonomy and influence over business growth and direction Career development opportunities as the division expands Variety across technical, commercial, and leadership responsibilities Supportive and collaborative team environment Exposure to a diverse range of projects and clients Wellington or Wairarapa location options Opportunity to make a genuine impact within a growing and respected organisation Contact All inquiries and applications to Archway Recruitment are treated in the strictest confidence.
