About the Team/Service/Location We’re seeking a District Nurse to join our supportive nursing team, working out of the Ewart building, 2 Coromandel Street, Newtown Wellington. District Nursing is a dynamic and evolving specialty. Our nurses play a vital role in supporting patients transitioning from hospital to home, and in working alongside GP practices to provide care in the community. Key responsibilities Delivering home‑based interventions including intravenous therapy, palliative care, wound care, compression bandaging and Doppler assessments, medication management, stoma and incontinence care, respiratory support and home oxygen therapy Assessing patients for their personal care needs and developing care plans Direction and delegation of the Health Care Assistants (HCAs) and collaborating with the wider Community Health team to ensure safe, coordinated care About you To be successful in this role, you should have: A current Annual Practicing Certificate as a Registered Nurse with the NZ Nursing Council Previous experience in district nursing or a strong interest in community‑based care At least five years of broad clinical nursing experience On the Professional Development and Recognition Programme (PDRP), or willingness to work towards it Strong clinical assessment and decision‑making skills Ability to work both independently and collaboratively Excellent relationship‑building skills with community healthcare providers A current driver licence is essential About Health New Zealand – Equality and Diversity Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is ‘the weaving of wellness’.
