Plant Operator

Role Title: Bitumen/Emulsion Plant Operator Location: Nelson • Contract Type: Full Time Overview Due to retirement, we have a rare opportunity for a motivated plant operator to join our tight‑knit bitumen team based in Nelson. This role requires a practical, mechanically minded, hands‑on approach combined with an understanding of bitumen plant manufacturing and operation. Key Responsibilities Operate bitumen/emulsion plant and ensure production meets customer demands. Maintain and clean plant equipment. Use appropriate inspection, measuring and test equipment to demonstrate conformance to requirements. Follow instructions, plans and schedules with minimal direct oversight. Support plant operations during flexible shifts, including night and weekend work. Qualifications & Experience Full Class 1 NZ Driver’s Licence (essential). WTR and/or F‑Endorsement an advantage. General plant operation knowledge and basic troubleshooting ability. Mechanical or engineering background an advantage. Experience or exposure to civil plant operations – Asphalt or Bitumen Plant – preferred but not essential; full training will be provided. Ability to work effectively in a small team and communicate well with customers. Strong safety record and commitment to living safely. Good computer skills.
