Job Description

About the role Our West Waikato NZTA IDC team is looking for a Network Inspector to help maintain a safe, compliant, and high‑performing network. This is a hands‑on role where you’ll carry out scheduled inspections, spot issues early, and make sure the right work gets picked up at the right time. You’ll use your judgement, eye for detail, and knowledge of road maintenance to assess asset condition, log faults, and provide the evidence needed for sound decision making. It’s Good Work that matters, with a team that’s flat, friendly, and serious when it counts. Responsibilities Conduct scheduled day and night visual inspections across the network and identify defects, faults, and maintenance needs. Assess asset condition, log and prioritise safety hazards, and update the Principal’s AWM system accurately. Scope and size required work, provide clear evidence for decision making, and support quality outcomes across operational delivery. Support planning, reporting, and coordination of resources while following contract requirements and processes. Build strong working relationships with NZTA and other stakeholders, and contribute to workshops and KPI delivery. Qualifications Experience in road maintenance, including strong knowledge of network assets, defects, and contract delivery. Practical experience using Asset Work Manager (AWM formerly RAMM) and Mobile AWM systems, with a solid understanding of field processes. The ability to assess road conditions, identify hazards, and make sound decisions about urgency, risk, and required action. Current Class1 driver licence. Proactive, accountable approach to safety, quality, and teamwork. Benefits Good work, good benefits. You’ll have access to: Medical insurance after the eligibility period. Life insurance from day one. KiwiSaver employer contributions after service milestones, up to 7%. Parental leave top‑up payment with additional return‑to‑work support. Ongoing training and development, with clear career growth and progression opportunities. Great discounts at a wide range of retailers. About us At Fulton Hogan, Good Work is about more than what we build. It’s how we show up, how we back each other, and how we get things done together. We’re not big on hierarchy or red tape. We’re a team that works side by side, shares ideas freely, and keeps moving forward. We take the work seriously, not ourselves. That means a relaxed, human culture day to day, with high standards when it counts. Across Aotearoa NewZealand, our people are creating, connecting, and caring for communities through the infrastructure we deliver and the way we give back. #J-18808-Ljbffr
