Job Description
We are seeking skilled and compassionate Support Workers, while continuing to support equitable entry and workforce development. Looking for a role that works around your life? Each Tangata will have high‑risk individual care requirements, and you will support them with all elements of daily living such as palliative care, bowel care, dementia, mental health, and medication. You will provide safe, respectful, and person‑centred support in people’s homes, being mindful of what matters to them, including their culture, values, beliefs, routines, and boundaries. Training We provide practical and online training during the first few weeks of employment, with the added bonus of year‑round training with regular refreshers and new modules to keep skills up to date. You’ll be supported through structured induction, ongoing training, refreshers, and clear development pathways. About You The following skills and experience may be required depending on the specific client needs you are matched to. Hold a Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification or have equivalent relevant experience Spinal injury experience (and optional stoma management experience) Experience with a full, standing, and two‑person hoist Experience administering prescribed medication Love working with people and helping them thrive Be willing to learn, reflect, and adapt your approach to what matters for each person Have experience in or exposure to caregiving, disability support, aged care, community work, or other people‑facing roles Committed to culturally safe, respectful support for people from all backgrounds Intuitive and responsive to people’s needs Own a smartphone Have the right to work in New Zealand Full‑restricted driver’s license Why Us Flexible hours – mornings, evenings, weekends Extra $1.00 per hour for weekend work Clear career pathway for Kaiāwhina | Support Workers Exclusive Spark Mobile Plan: Endless data (40 GB at max speed), unlimited NZ/AU calls & texts, hotspot access, voicemail for just $24.15 /month Some client needs require Support Workers who hold a Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification to ensure safe and appropriate care.
