Medical Laboratory Scientist – Haematology Laboratory (MiddleM Hospital) 1.0FTE – 12‑month fixed‑term maternity leave cover. About the Role We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist with a passion for Haematology to join our team at the MiddleM Hospital Haematology Laboratory. Remuneration will be based on experience in accordance with the PSA Allied Health MECA Core MLS salary scale (NZ$79,014‑$110,290) or the APEX Laboratory Workers MECA Core MLS salary scale (NZ$78,629‑$109,752). About the Team / Service / Location The MiddleM Hospital is a 950‑bed teaching hospital featuring a large Emergency Department, Dialysis Unit, National Burns Unit, Regional Plastic Surgery Unit, Special Care Baby Unit, ICU, and paediatric, general surgical, orthopaedic and medical wards. Our Haematology department is IANZ accredited and operates a 24‑hour service for MiddleM and Kidz First Hospitals and Manukau Health Park. It teaches technical and medical staff and works closely with the Clinical Haematology service. Diagnostic Haematology testing is performed using automated systems for cell counts, cell morphology, and coagulation, with a special haematology section that assists with the collection and processing of bone marrow samples and conducts haemoglobinopathy and thalassaemia screening. About You Registered with the Medical Sciences Council of NewZealand as an MLS and holding a current APC. At least 2years of recent experience in a Haematology Laboratory, or a new BMLS graduate who has completed a Haematology clinical placement. Good understanding of ISO15189:2022 and a commitment to quality improvement principles. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Confidence with computer LIS systems, preferably with experience using Sysmex Delphic, IT3000 and Navify. Experience with health and safety protocols. A positive attitude and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a busy team environment.
