At Te Toka Tumai | Auckland City Hospital we provide the largest Women’s Health Services in Australasia, supporting more than 6,500 births each year across primary, secondary, tertiary and quaternary maternity services. As a national referral and teaching hospital, we provide comprehensive maternity care to women with opportunities for midwives to practice across all areas. Opportunity If you are a Registered Midwife looking to work on a casual basis to fit around your family, study commitments or your lifestyle, this could be your opportunity to join our Temporary Staffing Bureau team. The Bureau employs over 600 casual staff consisting of Registered Nurses, Midwives, Healthcare assistants, Mental Health assistants and Mental Health Nurses to work across Te Toka Tumai to cover planned and unplanned leave. We provide support where the acuity is high, expertise when needed or cover in areas where recruitment needs have yet to be met. This casual midwife role will give you the opportunity to work across all maternity services of the Women’s Health service in Auckland City Hospital. Important Skills To be flexible and reliable Proficient in reading, writing, speaking English and at least intermediate level computer skills To be able to meet the physical demands of the role Confident midwifery clinical skills Excellent communication Team player Professionally accountable Midwives who want to work with whānau to give care that supports Te Toka Tumai’s commitment to achieving equity At least one year of postgraduate experience as a Midwife Current NZ Midwifery Council Registration and APC Maternity Services A 16‑bed labour and birthing unit Antenatal and postnatal wards Women's assessment unit providing 24/7 acute service for pregnant women A day assessment unit providing assessment‑based care for women A maternal fetal medicine and obstetric medicine service for women with more complex needs MLU midwifery led unit Whitinga ora pepi (transitional care for new‑borns) Benefits We recognise there is more to life than work, and we encourage and provide access to all our staff to several services and benefits to support themselves whilst they are employed within Te Toka Tumai | Auckland DHB. If you are currently working full‑time (40 hours), you will need to reduce your hours before we can consider you and provide proof of this.
