Enrolled Nurse - General Surgical Outpatients Surgical Outpatients Department, Whangarei Hospital Permanent part time position (0.6FTE) working 24 hours per week. About the Team/Service/Location Our Surgical Outpatients team is a dedicated, friendly, and skilled group of professionals who work collaboratively to provide high-quality care in a fast-paced and rewarding environment. This role is based at Whangarei Hospital and involves rostered shifts. For more information on living and working in Northland click here About the Role As an Enrolled Nurse in our service, you’ll provide compassionate, person-centred care within our Outpatients Clinic. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced outpatient environment, supporting patients across a range of surgical specialties while working alongside experienced Registered Nurses, specialists, and multidisciplinary teams. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Perform comprehensive nursing assessments within EN scope Monitoring health changes and contributing to care planning Assist with patient assessments, observations, and clinical procedures. Support specialists and nursing staff during outpatient clinics. Prepare and maintain clinical environments, equipment, and supplies. Provide health education and support to patients and whānau. Enrolled nurses in Aotearoa New Zealand reflect knowledge, concepts and worldviews of both tangata whenua and tangata tiriti. Enrolled nurses are accountable and responsible for their nursing practice, ensuring that all health care provided is consistent with their education, assessed competence, relevant legislative requirements, supported by relevant practice standards, and is guided by the Nursing Council of New Zealands standards for enrolled nurses. Registration as a New Zealand Enrolled Nurse with a current practising certificate Understanding of the Enrolled Nurse scope of practice under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act Knowledge and understanding of the Te Tiriti Waitangi and implications in nursing practice Strong communication and teamwork skills Working at Health New Zealand Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
