Nurse Educator - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Christchurch Women’s Hospital – Neonatal Nurse Educator Position: 0.8 FTE to 1.0 FTE (32 to 40 hours per week), permanent, Monday to Friday. About the Service The Neonatal Service at Christchurch Women’s Hospital is a busy acute unit providing secondary and tertiary care to newborn babies born prematurely or with surgical, congenital and medical complications following birth. The unit is a 44-bed facility comprising 12 intensive care beds and 32 special care cots, with a catchment area covering approximately 20,000 square kilometres of the South Island. Responsibilities Provide neonatal nursing education programmes and initiatives from novice to expert. Facilitate ongoing education and act as a resource person. Provide professional and educational support alongside the Neonatal Clinical Nurse Specialist. Support teaching, mentoring and coaching of nursing staff at all levels of practice. Contribute to the professional development of nursing throughout the organisation. Develop appropriate nursing standards and quality initiatives. Engage with staff and families in a holistic manner. Qualifications Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC). Minimum 5 years validated and extensive clinical expertise in neonatal nursing. Hold a relevant postgraduate qualification in neonatal nursing. Hold or be working towards a qualification in adult or clinical teaching. Demonstrated teaching, mentoring and coaching skills. Proven ability to support nursing staff at all levels of practice. Acknowledged leader within the neonatal speciality with advanced leadership within nursing. Ability to develop nursing standards and quality initiatives. Can work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Passion to engage with and provide holistic care for infants and their families. Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure.
