About the role

In this hands-on leadership role, you'll supervise project, routine and reactive work, coordinate staff, support fault response, and ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard. You'll play a key role in planning and prioritising work, supporting your team's capability, and maintaining strong relationships across operations, control, dispatch, contractors and other stakeholders.

Reporting to the Operations Manager - Substations/Utilities, you'll be responsible for leading the day-to-day delivery of substation services, including planning, commissioning, maintenance, fault response and team supervision.

You'll bring strong operational judgement, a practical understanding of electricity distribution, and a commitment to safety and service.

What you'll be doing

Supervise the delivery of substation tasks and projects from planning through to commissioning

Coordinate labour, materials, plant and equipment to support efficient delivery

Optimise the performance, development and engagement of staff

Participate in our after-hours response roster to supervise the restoration of power supply

Support safe work practices, compliance, quality outcomes and continuous improvement

Build strong working relationships across internal teams, stakeholders, utilities and authorities

About you

You'll be a confident and practical leader who can set clear expectations, keep teams focused and maintain high standards in a busy operational environment. You'll be comfortable making decisions, solving problems and leading through pressure while keeping safety and service at the forefront.

You'll bring:

A registered electrical qualification with at least five years' experience in substation maintenance activities

Strong electricity supply industry knowledge, along with industry-specific safety requirements and electrical safety obligations

Experience in motivating and leading teams in varying and at time challenging environments

Strong planning, prioritisation and communication skills

Confidence using Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
