Gynaecology Ward, Based at Auckland City Hospital Work rostered, 8 & 12 hour shifts, Monday to Sunday This is a part time, permanent position (0.8 FTE) available Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders. About the Role The Gynaecology inpatient ward at Auckland City Hospital provides acute and planned care for women with a variety of gynaecological conditions. We care for women following a range of gynaecological surgeries, from complex gynae-oncology surgery to advanced laparoscopic surgeries for endometriosis. The work we do is varied; from high acuity post-operative care and the management of acute gynaecologic concerns to the multidisciplinary support of those with complex pain. We support people through miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, and other pregnancy related conditions. In our unit we also provide supportive care for women having medical and surgical abortions. The advertised position also includes rotation to the Womens Assessment Unit, where patients with acute concerns are triaged, reviewed and either admitted or discharged with management plans. Working here requires autonomous decision-making and close collaboration with the midwife team in WAU and the inpatient ward. We are therefore looking for nurses who are able to work autonomously and as part of a supportive nursing team dedicated to effective/evidence-based nursing practice. We provide orientation programme and on-going education. As a department, Gynaecology is keen to support nurses with a passion for this area of health care. About you To be able to apply for this role, you must meet the following requirements: The Right to work in New Zealand, NZ Citizen or Permanent Resident. NZ Nursing Registration and a Valid Annual Practising Certificate. General Surgical experience and be able to care for complex surgical patients. Possess a will do/can do attitude and be compassionate and kind. Able to work with always changing workload and manage deadlines. Experience working within a Womens Health setting, is beneficial.
