Job Description
Job Overview Permanent, part‑time (0.4FTE) Social Worker role at Middlemore Hospital within the Surgical/Womens Health/Paediatrics Social Work Team. This position is part of the community midwifery social work team. Responsibilities Provide social work intervention and support to patients and families in a therapeutic, holistic manner. Apply frontline trauma intervention skills and counselling techniques. Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to develop bi‑cultural social work practice. Contribute to the team’s child protection and women’s health social work activities. Qualifications Recognised Social Work Qualification (Minimum level B) and active registration. Minimum five years post‑qualification experience. Experience & Skills Strong knowledge of child protection and women’s health social work. Familiarity with relevant health care legislation. Understanding of community needs and cultural appropriateness. Ability to provide strength‑based, culturally appropriate support and interventions. Additional Requirements Full, clean driver’s licence. Experience in child protection social work is an advantage. Knowledge of Tikanga Māori and/or a Pacific Island language is an advantage.
