Health and Safety Advisor - Mt Messenger HEB Construction is a dynamic and innovative leader in the construction of New Zealand's Infrastructure. We are involved with a variety of projects from road construction and maintenance through to earthworks, drainage, marine works, and major projects of national significance. We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Advisor to join us on the Mt Messenger Alliance project, one of New Zealand's most significant infrastructure projects. This exciting opportunity will have you working alongside a team of proficient and collaborative health and safety practitioners, all committed to achieving our goal of ensuring every person goes home safe and healthy every day. The Project: Waka Kotahi - NZ Transport Agency, along with its delivering agency the Mt Messenger Alliance, is constructing a new section of SH3, between Uruti and Ahititi to the north of New Plymouth in Taranaki which is located entirely within the rohe of Ngāti Tama. This new section of SH3 will bypass the existing approximately 7.4km steep, narrow and winding section of highway at Mt Messenger. The Mt Messenger Alliance brings together Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency, Downer, HEB Construction, Tonkin & Taylor and WSP, in partnership with Ngāti Tama. What We’re Looking For: Our ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years' experience working in a construction health and safety environment. You’ll have strong experience in delivering health and safety investigations, monitoring, training and coaching, and a solid understanding of health and safety legislation and best practice. To be successful you’ll be a team player, have the ability to communicate effectively across a range of audiences, and able to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced construction environment. Key Responsibilities: Provide effective health and safety support and advice across the project Lead and support high-quality incident investigations to implement timely and effective improvements Proactively build and develop strong relationships with managers, workers, and subcontractors Delivery of health and safety training Undertaking site inspections and providing monitoring and coaching of operational personnel to increase their capability and effectiveness in managing site risks Collating performance data to provide and maintain reporting Championing project health and safety procedures and initiatives Why Join Us?
