Job Description & Summary As an Associate in our Private Business team within Tax and Legal Services, you’ll work with a diverse portfolio of private clients, supporting them with accounting, tax compliance, reporting and practical business advice. This is a permanent opportunity based in Ōtautahi / Christchurch. Responsibilities Preparing and reviewing statutory financial statements, income tax returns and indirect tax returns Supporting private clients with accounting and tax advisory work, escalating technical matters where needed Coordinating finance function support, including month‑end reporting, budgeting, cash flow forecasting, financial modelling and board reporting Working with clients and internal teams to understand business challenges and deliver practical solutions Skills you will bring or develop in this role A degree in Commerce, Business, Accounting or a similar field Previous experience in a similar accounting or tax role, ideally at least 12‑24 months beyond graduate level Knowledge and understanding of basic New Zealand tax law Strong experience preparing financial statements, income tax returns and indirect tax returns such as GST and FBT A good understanding of business accounting, finance and tax compliance Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an eye for detail Analytical and problem‑solving skills, with confidence using accounting systems and Microsoft Office applications Working towards CAANZ or CPA membership would be beneficial Highlights of working at PwC NZ Rewards – Discretionary bonus opportunities; generous referral bonuses; retail discounts & deals Growth – Global network; leadership development; A.I. tools and training; formal learning pathways Wellbeing – $250 annual wellbeing allowance; life & income protection; Sonder/EAP/Headspace; 15 days’ paid sick leave; group‑rate health insurance, eligibility applies Reputation – PwC is known for shaping tomorrow.
