About the role We are looking for a commercially minded and driven Financial Accountant to join our New Zealand Finance team. Based in either Ashburton or Christchurch, this role requires travel between the two locations and offers flexibility and hybrid working arrangements. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play a key role across financial reporting, tax compliance, internal controls, ERP systems and business partnering. What will you be doing? Support monthly and year-end financial reporting activities, including reconciliations, accruals and provisions. Prepare management reporting and group reporting submissions. Manage direct and indirect tax compliance, including GST, FBT, NRWT and income tax. Support statutory reporting and external audit requirements. Maintain and strengthen internal controls and compliance processes. Analyse financial results and investigate variances. Manage intercompany transactions and branch transfer accounting. Partner with operational and commercial stakeholders across the business. Support budgeting, forecasting and planning activities. Utilise ERP systems and reporting tools to improve financial visibility and decision‑making. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes, controls and efficiencies. About you You are a proactive and results‑focused finance professional with strong technical accounting expertise. You are analytical, curious and detail‑oriented, enjoy solving problems, building trusted relationships and delivering high‑quality outcomes. You are self‑driven, deadline‑focused and thrive working independently and as part of a collaborative team. You hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce or an equivalent qualification, and a CA or CPA qualification is preferred. You have 3‑5 years of experience in a Financial Accountant or similar role. You possess strong experience in financial reporting, tax compliance and internal controls. You have advanced Excel skills with a strong reporting and analytical background. You have experience with ERP systems such as SAP, BPC, Cognos or similar. You demonstrate strong stakeholder management and business partnering skills. You exhibit excellent communication and relationship‑building capability. You can manage competing deadlines and priorities in an agile environment. You are a collaborative team‑player and thrive in a manufacturing or complex operational environment (highly regarded).
