Job Description

Senior Policy Advisor – Building Resilience and Performance Work in a fast-paced regulatory policy area to lift the efficiency and effectiveness of the Building regulatory system. Actively shape and lead policy advice on the future of building regulation in New Zealand. Apply your expertise to complex and interesting policy issues in a fast-paced environment, while mentoring and coaching team members. Open to Wellington, Auckland or Christchurch based candidates. Salary: $110,098 – $138,028, plus KiwiSaver and Wellness Benefits. Responsibilities Ensuring the earthquake‑prone buildings system is workable and proportionate to the risks posed. Supporting high‑profile legislative reform across the building system. Supporting stakeholders to understand what these legislative changes mean for them. Other regulatory matters facing the building and construction sector. Qualifications & Experience Experience leading complex policy projects within central government. Wide ranging knowledge of policy development disciplines and processes. The ability to work through ambiguity and deliver results. Strong stakeholder relationship building, influencing and engagement skills to gain the cooperation and commitment of others. Demonstrated capability in working with Ministers, senior public service officials, internal and external stakeholders. Passion for leading and coaching others to develop their policy craft and take their careers to the next level. Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and application of these in public policy and in partnership with Māori. Benefits Salary range $110,098 – $138,028; KiwiSaver; Wellness Benefits.
