Job Description

Description Higgins is seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Network Inspector to join our Hawke's Bay team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in maintaining the safety, reliability, and performance of both local and national road networks across the wider Hawke's Bay region. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for carrying out network inspections, identifying defects and risks, and providing accurate, evidence‑based information that supports asset management decisions. Working closely with clients, stakeholders, and operational teams, you will help deliver quality outcomes while contributing to a strong culture of safety, continuous improvement and "Right First Time" delivery. What You'll Be Doing Conduct inspections across local and national road networks in accordance with contract requirements and the Fault Identification Guide (FIG) Monitor network condition, safety and performance against agreed Levels of Service Identify defects, hazards, risks and non‑compliance issues and ensure they are accurately recorded Collect, analyse and maintain accurate inspection and asset data Support maintenance planning and treatment decisions through condition assessments and technical recommendations Work collaboratively with clients, stakeholders and delivery teams to achieve best‑for‑network outcomes Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and quality assurance activities Participate in incident response activities and rostered after‑hours duties when required Undertake travel throughout the wider Hawke's Bay network as required What You'll Bring Experience within the roading, civil construction, infrastructure or maintenance sectors Understanding of road maintenance, asset management or network inspection activities Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and assess network defects and risks Sound problem‑solving and decision‑making skills Excellent communication and stakeholder relationship skills Confidence using tablets, mobile technology, and computer‑based systems A proactive approach to safety and quality A full New Zealand driver's licence We offer Competitive salary package Permanent, full‑time opportunity Ongoing training and professional development Career growth opportunities within the wider Fletcher Construction and Higgins businesses Supportive, collaborative team culture Z fuel discounts, including monthly pie and coffee benefits KiwiSaver employer contributions matched up to 4% Employee benefits that support you and your whānau The opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the transport networks that keep Hawke's Bay moving About Higgins Higgins is a leading roading and civil infrastructure company in New Zealand.
