Surgical Outpatients Department, Whangarei Hospital Permanent part‑time position (0.6FTE) working 24 hours per week. Open to both New Graduate Enrolled Nurses and those with previous clinical experience. About the Team/Service/Location Our Surgical Outpatients team is a dedicated, friendly, and skilled group of professionals who work collaboratively to provide high‑quality care in a fast‑paced and rewarding environment. This role is based at Whangarei Hospital and involves rostered shifts. About the Role As an Enrolled Nurse in our service, you’ll provide compassionate, person‑centred care within our Outpatients Clinic. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast‑paced outpatient environment, supporting patients across a range of surgical specialties while working alongside experienced Registered Nurses, specialists, and multidisciplinary teams. Key Responsibilities Perform comprehensive nursing assessments within EN scope Monitor health changes and contribute to care planning Assist with patient assessments, observations, and clinical procedures Support specialists and nursing staff during outpatient clinics Prepare and maintain clinical environments, equipment, and supplies Provide health education and support to patients and whānau Ensure nursing practice is consistent with education, assessed competence, legislative requirements, relevant practice standards, and the Nursing Council of New Zealand’s standards for enrolled nurses About You Registration as a New Zealand Enrolled Nurse with a current practising certificate. Understanding of the Enrolled Nurse scope of practice under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act. Knowledge and understanding of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its implications in nursing practice. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Input ensures you can work at Health New Zealand.
