About the Role Starship Operating Rooms is seeking an innovative, enthusiastic, and experienced Perioperative Nurse to join the senior team as a Nurse Consultant. The operating rooms at Starship Children’s Hospital cover acute/emergency and elective procedures in the paediatric specialties of General, Thoracic, Urology, Endoscopy, Oncology, ORL, Dental, Head and Neck, Orthopaedics, Spinal, Plastics and Cardiac. We look after babies and children up to 15 years of age from the greater Auckland region and the South Pacific. Key Responsibilities Accountable for the quality of perioperative nursing care across the paediatric patient healthcare journey, contributing to patient safety and service quality improvement initiatives. Strengthen perioperative clinical care for Tamariki and whanau and support specific paediatric evidence‑based practice across perioperative teams. Collaborate with colleagues responsible for the development of strategic direction across the perioperative and child health directorates. Qualifications Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand. Legal entitlement to work in New Zealand. Paediatric perioperative experience, ideally in a senior nursing role. Post‑graduate qualification. Five years post‑graduate experience. Ability to facilitate evidence‑based guideline development and implementation.
