As a Technical Lead Software Engineer within IDEXX Veterinary Software, you will lead a squad focused on advancing our mission to build the leading vertical SaaS platform for animal health. You will guide engineers, shape technical direction, and deliver scalable cloud solutions that help veterinary practices improve clinical care, practice management, and client engagement. Why this role matters: IDEXX Veterinary Software is expanding its engineering organization to accelerate delivery across our Clinical, Practice Management, and Client Engagement domains. As a Technical Lead, you will help build and scale the cloud platforms and applications that veterinary teams rely on every day, enabling better outcomes for practices, pet owners, and patients. In this role: Lead by example, serving as a trusted technical leader and mentor for your engineering team. Drive the design and delivery of high‑quality, scalable solutions across our cloud platforms and applications. Create technical designs and build robust, maintainable software using modern engineering practices. Monitor, evaluate, and continuously improve solutions throughout the software delivery lifecycle. Write unit tests and conduct senior‑level code reviews to ensure quality, reliability, and maintainability. Refactor platform components to improve performance, scalability, and long‑term sustainability. Contribute to technical strategy discussions and help guide the evolution of our technology stack. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to solve challenges related to scale, reliability, and customer impact. Support DevOps practices, automation initiatives, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and system reliability efforts. Work with technologies including TypeScript, Go, AWS, cloud‑native architectures, event‑driven systems, and containerized environments. What you need to succeed: Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer or Technical Lead guiding the delivery and quality of engineering teams. Demonstrated success improving engineering culture, agility, automated testing practices, and DevSecOps capabilities. Strong software design and architecture experience, with a track record of solving complex technical challenges. Deep understanding of cloud technologies and associated best practices. Experience with modern web technologies such as React and backend technologies including Go, TypeScript, or object‑oriented programming languages. Experience working with AWS cloud infrastructure. Strong understanding of object‑oriented design patterns, modular architecture, and modern APIs.Experience with automated and unit testing. Ability to lead or guide Agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, or similar frameworks. Previous experience within a scaled SaaS environment is highly desirable.
