About the Role As a Patient Administration Clerk, you will be responsible for managing patient information accurately and securely throughout the patient journey while providing exceptional customer service to patients, whānau, staff, and the wider community. This is a fast‑paced and diverse role where you will act as a key point of contact for hospital services, supporting patient admissions, discharges, transfers, National Health Index (NHI) administration, emergency department processing, demographic updates, data quality activities, and general administration functions. You will work across multiple systems and collaborate closely with clinical and non‑clinical teams to ensure patient information is accurate, accessible, and supports safe patient care. We are currently looking to fill two positions with our Patient Administration team. The hours of work will generally be 8‑hour shifts, with shift patterns varying to meet service needs. The successful candidates may be required to work a range of shifts, including day, afternoon, evening, night, and weekend shifts. About the Team/Service/Location Patient Administration Services provides critical administrative support across Health New Zealand|TeWhatuOraTeTaiTokerau. Our team works closely with clinical and operational services to ensure accurate patient information, efficient hospital processes, and excellent customer experiences across the organisation. Based at Whangārei Hospital, you’ll join a collaborative and supportive team committed to delivering high‑quality service and making a positive difference for patients and whānau across Northland. For more information on living and working in Northland click here. About you Strong administrative experience, excellent attention to detail, and a customer‑focused approach. Proven administration experience, ideally within a healthcare or complex service environment. Strong computer literacy, including experience using Microsoft Office and multiple electronic systems. Exceptional communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact confidently with a diverse range of people. A sound understanding of privacy, confidentiality, and the importance of accurate data management. The ability to prioritise competing demands, work effectively under pressure, and contribute positively as part of a team.
