About the Role Reporting to the New Zealand Board and Group CEO, the Chief Executive Officer New Zealand is responsible for leading the organisation's strategic direction, operational performance and long-term sustainability. This is a unique opportunity to lead a purpose-driven organisation that is making a tangible difference while operating in a commercial and competitive environment. The role requires an experienced executive with an attestable track record of performance in the boardroom, engaging with government stakeholders and building relationships with development and community partners to achieve growth aspirations. You will provide leadership across strategy, operations, governance, financial performance, risk management and organisational culture. This will include origination and negotiation of long-term complex, high value commercial arrangements. Bringing a balance of commercial acumen and social purpose, you will identify opportunities to strengthen organisational capability, expand housing outcomes and ensure the effective delivery of services and development initiatives. Leading a dedicated team, you will foster a high-performing, safety-focused culture while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships that support the organisation's continued success and impact. An executive level understanding of how to leverage a combination of government processes, partnership development and operational performance to achieve growth targets. Ideally this will be backed by experience in the social or community housing sector or adjacent industry such as property development or financial services for social and affordable housing. Your portfolio will include: Strategic leadership and organisational growth Board engagement, governance and reporting Negotiation of high value and complex commercial contracts Government relations and stakeholder engagement Developer partnerships and business development Commercial performance and financial sustainability Risk management, compliance and organisational assurance Identification and delivery of growth opportunities Leadership of a growing housing and development portfolio Building organisational capability, culture and people leadership Sector representation and advocacy About you: Proven executive leadership experience reporting to and working closely with a Board Outstanding relationship-building skills and an ability to influence across government, development and community sectors Strong commercial acumen with a demonstrated ability to identify opportunities, evaluate risk and deliver sustainable organisational outcomes Strategic thinker with a pragmatic and operational leadership style Experience leading organisational growth and navigating complexity Strong governance, financial management and business leadership capability Demonstrated success working with government agencies and navigating public sector environments Experience within property, development, infrastructure, housing or related sectors Knowledge of the social housing or community housing sector would be highly regarded An authentic and collaborative leadership style, with the ability to build credibility, trust and engagement to influence colleagues across the organisation.
