Role Description As an Asbestos Surveyor/Assessor at Maynard Marks, you will carry out asbestos surveys and risk assessments for a variety of residential, commercial, and public buildings. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and conducting site inspections, sampling and identifying asbestos-containing materials, preparing clear technical reports, and advising clients on compliance, remediation, and risk management. You will collaborate with other consultants and project managers to integrate asbestos findings into broader building and property strategies, while maintaining accurate documentation and adhering to relevant legislation, standards, and safety protocols. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Auckland, with a mix of on-site work and some work from home for reporting, analysis, and client communication. Qualifications IP402 & IP404 Demonstrated experience in asbestos surveying and assessing, including site inspections, sampling, and risk evaluation. Sound knowledge of hazardous materials regulations, relevant New Zealand legislation, and industry standards for asbestos management. Strong technical reporting and documentation skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly for a range of clients. Proficiency in using digital tools for data collection, survey recording, and report preparation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary project teams. Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a methodical approach to health, safety, and quality assurance. Relevant qualifications or certifications in asbestos surveying/assessment or occupational hygiene; tertiary study in building, construction, engineering, or a related field is an advantage. Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to client sites across the Auckland region and, where needed, elsewhere in Aotearoa.
