Location: Auckland NZ or Sydney Australia (Hybrid) Experience: 8+ Years Overall | 4+ Years in AI/ML, GenAI, Data Engineering, Intelligent Automation, or related fields About the Role We are looking for a highly skilled and hands‑on Senior AI Engineer to design, build, and deliver enterprise‑grade Generative AI solutions that create tangible business value. This role requires deep Python engineering expertise, practical experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG), and cloud‑native architectures. As a Senior AI Engineer, you will lead the end‑to‑end delivery of AI‑powered applications, drive technical decision‑making, mentor engineering teams, and collaborate with business stakeholders to transform complex requirements into scalable, secure, and responsible AI solutions. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and deliver enterprise‑scale GenAI solutions and reusable AI engineering frameworks. Build and optimize AI application pipelines across: Knowledge retrieval Context grounding Evaluation and monitoring Develop AI‑powered search, knowledge discovery, and intelligent workflow automation capabilities. Design and implement Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures to improve response quality, relevance, and reliability. Enhance AI solution performance through vector search optimization, prompt engineering, retrieval design, and quality controls. Collaborate with architects, product owners, developers, and business stakeholders to define and implement AI use cases. Lead technical design discussions and make architecture decisions for scalable AI platforms. Provide mentorship and technical guidance to engineering teams while promoting engineering best practices. Ensure AI solutions align with security, governance, compliance, and Responsible AI principles. Support deployment, observability, and continuous improvement of AI applications in cloud environments. Required Skills & Experience Must‑Have Skills 8+ years of overall software engineering experience. 4+ years of experience in AI/ML, GenAI, data engineering, intelligent automation, or related domains. Strong expertise in Python development for AI and backend engineering. Hands‑on experience building and deploying LLM‑powered enterprise applications . Strong understanding of: Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) Vector databases and semantic search Prompt engineering and grounding techniques LLM orchestration frameworks Experience designing and delivering cloud‑native AI solutions in enterprise environments. Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to work independently and lead complex technical initiatives. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills. Good‑to‑Have Skills AI evaluation frameworks, guardrails, hallucination mitigation, and response quality tuning. Experience with source‑code analysis, dependency mapping, or application intelligence solutions.Data mapping, document ingestion frameworks, and human‑in‑the‑loop AI workflows. Front‑end development experience for building AI‑enabled user experiences. Exposure to modern cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
