Job Description
Overview Location: Hutt Hospital • Contract: Permanent, Part Time 0.7 FTE • Rostered and Rotating Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and dedicated to serving all New Zealanders. This role supports the Emergency Department (ED) team by contributing to patient care and assisting with a range of clinical and non-clinical tasks within defined boundaries. Responsibilities Assist with delegated patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Midwife (RM). Support the interdisciplinary team to meet patient/client needs in the Emergency Department. Perform cleaning, housekeeping, and clerical duties as required within scope of practice. Be flexible to work across all areas of the ED; cover testing, clinical and non-clinical duties as assigned. Participate in training for specific tasks and adhere to service area requirements. Contribute to quality practice and improved patient safety; align with District and Nursing goals and values. Maintain professional accountability for actions and work within policy and delegation of an RN or RM. About You Essential: Health Assistance Level 3 or equivalent, or prepared to complete within specified timeframes. Desired: Previous experience in a health care setting is desirable. Friendly, caring and empathetic manner; ability to remain calm and act quickly in emergencies. Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions. Ability to deal with sickness and distressing medical situations; delivering an exemplary standard of care. Innovation and critical thinking; commitment to sustainable practice.
