What You’ll Do Our trading team is an exciting and complex part of the business that manages our electricity portfolio and carbon obligations. We\'re looking for a pragmatic Trader to join the Auckland based team, where you\'ll be trading electricity derivatives and emission products to maximise trading gross margin. This includes ASX electricity futures and options, OTC derivatives, Financial Transmission Rights and NZ Emission Units. Reporting To Our Derivatives Manager, Your Key Responsibilities Include Trade futures and other related products to maximise the value of Genesis\'s trading portfolio for both hedging and speculative purposes Analyse and negotiate significant short to long term hedge and forwards transactions Trade carbon products for Genesis\'s obligation and speculative portfolios Review hedge and forwards trading results and report on performance as required Provide analysis, commentary and recommendations on forward market opportunities Remain well informed on international markets and policy developments in Emissions trading and advise the business on potential impact and obligations. Please note that this is a full-time permanent position. Our preferred base location is Auckland, but we\'re open to other locations for the right candidate. What You’ll Need Along with your technical expertise, we\'re looking for a positive, reliable, and motivated team player with a genuine interest in all things trading. Derivatives trading at Genesis is high-profile, fast-paced, and constantly evolving, so you\'ll need the confidence to take and manage risk, along with the commercial acumen to make sound decisions. You\'ll be part of a high-performing team at the forefront of New Zealand\'s energy transition, where innovation and technology are reshaping the way electricity and emissions are generated, traded, and managed. Commodity trading experience or equivalent trading/analytical experience in a highly compliance based environment An understanding of electricity markets - NZ or overseas Demonstrated experience in structuring and documentation of hedge agreements Conversant with the Emissions trading framework within NZ Relevant commercial/business tertiary qualification Desirable Experience in risk management, data analytics and model development Experience with algorithmic trading and development, with programming skills in Python and C++.
