Position Hillmorton Hospital, Christchurch - Permanent 1.0 FTE Clinical Psychologist (Registration required) Overview Hillmorton Hospital is firmly grounded in the principles of TeTiriti o Waitangi and is dedicated to serving all New Zealanders. About the Role The Whaikaha Unit is a 4‑bed in‑patient Intellectual Disability (ID) unit providing specific regional clinical assessment and treatment to our tāngatawhaiora. Work involves risk assessments, diagnoses and critically delivering interventions for adult patients presenting challenging behaviour. The role requires working under the Intellectual Disability Compulsory Care and Rehabilitation Act (IDCC & R Act 2003) and addressing forensic considerations within support plans. You will contribute to the development of a model of care and to building an enhanced high‑care unit. About You In this role you will play several important functions. Your professional expertise will be utilised to guide through risk assessments and diagnoses and to critically deliver various interventions to an intricate but fascinating group of adult patients - supporting them to build a meaningful life. Your professionalism and dedication to high‑quality patient care, communication, and time‑management skills will enable you to function well as a member of the larger multidisciplinary team. Qualifications You must be a clinically registered psychologist with the NewZealand Psychologists Board. Recent, relevant experience in an intellectual disability context is crucial.
