We’re looking for someone with genuine agricultural experience and the potential to contribute significantly to the character of our school, someone prepared to go the extra mile for our students. Tawera Rural College is our agriculture department, with a proud history and high engagement in all year levels. We run a Primary ITO trades academy, which also supports neighbouring schools, and have great support from our farming community. We are now looking for a new head of department to guide and grow us. The successful candidate will have the support of current staff who are well connected and passionate about their work. As a semi-rural school close to Christchurch, at the heart of our community, our development programme is based on a strong vision. We’re engaged in all the curriculum changes while ensuring that our teaching practices are the most effective for our learners; we’ve done a lot of work on staff culture which is essential in the high-pressure environment of teaching currently. We currently have 840 students, years 7-13, most of whom are very well supported from home and well connected to their school; some need us to adapt our practice to meet their needs. Our roll is growing steadily with development in our zone. Terms and conditions of employment are covered under the Secondary Teachers Collective Agreement.
