About the Role We are seeking a highly motivated Registered Nurse to join the Nursing Practice Development Unit (NPDU) as a Nurse Educator – Professional Development Recognition Programme (PDRP). This temporary 0.6 FTE position provides parental leave cover for 12 months. The Nurse Educator PDRP works across the organisation as a coordinator, educator, consultant, and mentor, supporting nurses to achieve and maintain PDRP requirements. You will lead the administration, education, assessment, moderation, and continuous improvement activities associated with PDRP while promoting excellence in nursing practice and professional development. You will deliver PDRP‑related education workshops, provide individual coaching and support, coordinate assessor activities, maintain quality systems and databases, and collaborate with nursing leaders to ensure professional development opportunities align with nursing workforce needs. A strong commitment to equity, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and culturally responsive practice is essential. About you Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC). Minimum 4‑5 years’ nursing experience. Current Proficient PDRP portfolio or higher (or working towards completion within agreed timeframes). Knowledge of Nursing Council of New Zealand competencies, PDRP frameworks, and professional development requirements. Excellent communication, coaching, facilitation, and relationship‑building skills. Strong organisational, administrative, and workload prioritisation abilities. Experience supporting education, quality improvement, or professional development initiatives. Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the ability to apply its principles in practice. About the Location Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua – MidCentral is a 350‑bed hospital in the city of Palmerston North, Manawatū, a city in the Lower North Island of New Zealand. Palmerston North Hospital is a secondary hospital and offers most medical and surgical specialties with the exception of Cardiothoracic, Plastic and Neurosurgery. The hospital serves a local population of 180,000 but is the base for a regional head and neck oncology service which has responsibility for a population of 550,000 and draws patients from Whanganui, Taranaki, and Hawke's Bay.
