Secondary (Years 7–15) / wharekura, Certificated teacher English, Health and physical education, Learning languages, Mathematics and statistics, Science, Social sciences, Technology, Te reo Māori, The arts Start 27 January 2027 Papanui High School is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, passionate, and culturally responsive Kaiako to join our dedicated team within our bilingual unit, Te Whatukura o Papanui. This is a permanent, full-time position for a teacher who is deeply committed to Māori student achievement and fostering a thriving bilingual learning environment. You will play a pivotal role in nurturing the academic success, cultural identity, and holistic wellbeing of our ākonga. The successful applicant will have a strong grounding in te reo Māori and tikanga Māori, and a genuine passion for collaborative teaching. While the primary focus of this role is delivering high-quality bilingual education, the ability to teach mathematics (pāngarau) and science (pūtaiao) is a distinct advantage. The successful candidate will also lead or be involved in co-curricular activities, specifically te ao haka, manu kōrero, mihi whakatau, pōwhiri and wānanga. A high level of proficiency in te reo Māori and a deep understanding of tikanga. A strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally sustaining pedagogies. The ability to build strong, positive relationships with ākonga, whānau, and the wider school community. New Zealand teacher registration and a current practising certificate.
