As the owner and operator of the Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter and Northland Westpac Rescue Helicopter services, we provide critical emergency air ambulance, rescue, and medical transport services across Te Tai Tokerau and Tāmaki Makaurau. Our Engineering team plays a vital role in ensuring our helicopters remain operationally ready, safe, and compliant at all times. Through expert maintenance, inspection, and repair of our aircraft, they help ensure our clinical and flight crews can continue delivering early, safe, and optimal patient care when it matters most. Based at Ardmore and supporting operations across the Northern Region, our engineers are critical to the success of every mission. We are seeking an experienced Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME) to join our Engineering team based at Ardmore, Auckland. This is an exciting opportunity to work within one of New Zealand's leading aeromedical and rescue aviation organisations, supporting a fleet of helicopters that provide life-saving services across the Northern Region. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you'll be responsible for maintaining, servicing, inspecting, and repairing aircraft structures, engines, avionics, and mechanical systems, ensuring all work is completed to the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. What you'll do Maintain and repair aircraft structures, avionics, engines, and mechanical systems Conduct scheduled inspections and servicing to ensure aircraft airworthiness Diagnose faults and carry out repairs or component replacements as required Test aircraft systems and components to confirm operational performance Complete and maintain accurate technical records, including logbooks, work packs, task cards, and maintenance documentation Ensure all engineering activities comply with regulatory requirements, company procedures, and aviation industry standards Support duplicate inspections, FOD checks, and quality assurance activities Monitor and maintain aircraft operational readiness to support frontline rescue and aeromedical operations Build effective working relationships with operational teams and key stakeholders Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and a strong safety culture Undertake additional engineering and operational support duties as required You'll be a skilled and safety-focused aviation professional with strong technical expertise and a commitment to excellence. You take pride in producing quality work, have exceptional attention to detail, and enjoy working as part of a collaborative team supporting a critical emergency service operation. You'll be highly organised, adaptable, and capable of managing competing priorities while maintaining strict compliance with aviation regulations and engineering standards. What we're looking for Current NZCAA Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence (or ability to hold and exercise licence privileges in New Zealand) Strong knowledge of aircraft electronic, mechanical, and/or structural systems Understanding of aircraft maintenance requirements and approved repair procedures Sound knowledge of aeronautical safety regulations, engineering standards, and safe work practices Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to understand and follow technical instructions and documentation Strong planning, prioritisation, and organisational skills Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality Proactive approach with a continuous improvement mindset Strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance Experience working on helicopter fleets Previous rescue helicopter, aeromedical, EMS, or special mission aviation experience Experience working in a Part 145 maintenance environment Type ratings relevant to Leonardo Helicopters Experience working in a 24/7 operational aviation environment Additional avionics or specialist engineering qualifications This is an opportunity to play a critical role behind every mission.
